National Postdoc Day 2026
On the 19th of June 2026, at Minnaertgebouw in Utrecht, between10:00 and 17:00, PostdocNL will host the National Postdoc Day – an event dedicated to postdoctoral researchers in the Netherlands. This day will bring together postdocs from all disciplines and institutions across the Netherlands to connect, share experiences, and strengthen our community.
What is the National Postdoc Day?
Postdoc Day is designed as a yearly gathering where postdocs can:
- Discuss the opportunities and challenges of postdoctoral life in the Netherlands
- Take part in interactive sessions
- Meet peers from across the country and expand their professional networks
- Enjoy informal networking opportunities, including a closing reception with drinks
What’s on the Program?
The day kicks off with a Plenary Session (10:00–12:00) covering essential topics including your rights as a postdoc, unions, and voting. After a lunch break, the afternoon features three parallel sessions (13:00–15:00) tailored to where you are in your postdoc journey:
• Starting postdocs – Explore grant opportunities, understand the differences between PhD and postdoc life, and get advice on strategic planning and switching fields.
• Senior postdocs – Dive into grant opportunities, navigate university bureaucracy, hear about women in science, and learn about NL promotion criteria.
• Leaving academia – Discover career coaching, policy jobs, and industry career paths.
The day closes with a discussion and concluding remarks (15:00–15:30), followed by a well-deserved borrel (15:30–17:00) — the perfect moment to keep the conversation going.
